TAI FM is where the Beat is Hot! The station aimed at 15 – 30 year old age group with a contemporary hits radio format including mainstream pop, hip-hop, NZ, Top 20 Chart and the latest Hits.
TAI FM unique features includes the best of old school music from Motown and the 80’s appealing to an older age group in the evenings.
Our listeners are mobile, informed, intelligent, connected, technology savvy, have a higher disposable income, keen to explore new avenues, involved in the Maori world, proud of their heritage, encouraged potential leaders, and opinionated about the world around them.
A recent Massey University survey among the Maori population found that TAI FM is the most listened to radio station in the Far North for the 0-25 year age group” and has a strong appeal to a wider age group beyond its 30 age bracket. Respondents claim they enjoy the “approachable and relaxed nature of the station”.
Local promotions TAI FM have been involved with include Top Milk Community Notices, Regional and National Surf Competitions, Pool Promotions, Talent Quests, Community Fundraisers, Avocado Trust Christmas Parade, and Te Oranga Pure Free Festival. Nationally TAI FM has been involved in the Sound Splash Concert 2003 (Hamilton), and Manu Korero 2003. It is our intention to maintain and increase our involvement in community affairs.
TAI FM understands its role in the community and has positioned itself in the market to enhance the lives of young people and their whanau by promoting no alcohol, bad language, health, safety, and positive living, and providing leadership in social development and responsibility (refer to Youth Transition Services).
TAI FM was the top finalist for the New Zealand Commonwealth Silver Awards 2003, where we have now gone onto the South Pacific Silver Awards. TAI FM has also won for the second consecutive year the National Youth Programme Contract against other radio stations. TAI FM has been a recipient (3 years consecutively) of best Youth Programme and Presenters at the Maori Media Awards 2004, 2005, and 2006. This proves TAI FM’s professionalism, credibility and commercial approach.
