Sunshine FM

Nestled in the heart of Kaitaia is SUNSHINE 98.7 FM, a busy local radio station that serves the Far North of New Zealand.  Covering an area from Kawakawa to Cape Reinga, Kerikeri on the east coast to Hokianga on the west coast.  We at Sunshine FM have a friendly, professional and commercial approach to broadcasting.  Since first going to air in February 1998, we have received great support from the local business community, local service clubs, emergency services and of course our listeners.

We have a carefully selected target audience in the 30 to 50 age bracket, and the music format plays ‘Classic Hits of the 60’s to today’, which is tailored specifically to a potential market of 30,000 listeners.  We broadcast  24 hours, Monday to Sunday, and deliver live, location and  pre-recorded programming.  News, sport and weather are provided on the hour, every hour.

The intention of our programming is to create a positive, accessible, family orientated, informative, easy listening and innovative environment.  We are proud to be running a gentle approach to the promotion of the Maori language, which adds a significant cultural dynamic to our product.   The content is community specific and offers an outlet for all local clubs, associations and businesse’s to reach the public at large.

State of the art computer technology and software (Ots AV) are the tools we use to generate all our creative projects, in purpose built sound recording studios.  Trained professional staff design, script, cast and direct all on air broadcasting material.  Our strong production team is the jewel in our crown.
